Scoil Éigse is the educational component of every Fleadh Cheoil, where young and up-and-coming musicians receive expert tuition from some of traditional Irish music’s best teachers and musicians.
This year, as the Fleadh Cheoil has become Fleadhfest and migrated online, so too will Scoil Éigse. Under the direction of musician and broadcaster Kieran Hanrahan, Scoil Éigse will be taught online in two slots each morning from Monday 2nd – Friday 6th August at 11am and 12:30pm.
On each of the evenings between Monday 2nd – Thursday 5th August, some of the musicians will take part in Club na hÉigse, a special online session which will precede the main concert and which will also be streamed LIVE on Fleadhfest.ie. The tunes will be distributed online in advance of each of these sessions, and we encourage budding musicians to play along at home to get involved in the fun in Sligo.
To sign up for this year’s Scoil Éigse, please visit the Comhaltas website. Places are limited and priced very reasonably at €20 per person for the week. That’s just €4 per daily online lesson, and represents great value.
